More good news: Snacks are totally allowed and I’m not simply talking about carrot sticks. There are lots of packaged options out made for keto fans there.

They’re also plant-based and are made with almond or cashew butter, cocoa butter, coconut, pea protein, sunflower seeds, and chia seeds. This is your standard coffee but with grass-fed butter and medium-chain triglycerides MCT oil added to help give you a boost of healthy fats in the A.

As the name implies, these are little snacks that are high in low and fat in carbs, so you can be on-point with your diet, when you indulge even. It implies that starchy vegetables like potatoes and carrots also, as well as legumes like chickpeas, lentils, and black beans are off-limits, too.

Another thing you can’t have: sweets-artificial or natural. Candy, cakes, and doughnuts are a no; and even many fruits aren’t allowed apples, bananas, pears-they all have tons of sugar, which is a carb definitely. Alcohol’s another grey area on the keto diet-many beers and sugary cocktails are banned on the keto diet, as well as some sweeter wines. Note: Because you’ll be excluding some major food groups on the keto diet grains, many fruits you should think about taking a multivitamin-especially one which contains folic acid definitely, which helps your body make new cells and is found in enriched breads often, cereals, and other grain products, says Julie Upton, R.

Does the keto diet have any relative side effects? It usually takes three to four days for your body to go into ketosis because you have to use up your body’s stores of glucose, i. Any major diet change can give you some, uh, issues, and Keatley says he often sees patients who complain of IBS-like symptoms and feeling wiped out at the beginning of the diet. The tiredness happens because you have less access to carbs, which give you quick energy, he explains.

Other side effects of the keto dietall of which are tied to carb withdrawal, can include lightheadedness, nausea, mental fog, cramps, and headaches, in addition to tiredness. Luckily, the keto flu doesn’t usually last more than a week-which is coincidentally about when people begin to see the number on the scale go down, says Warren.

Aside from the typical keto flu complaints, diarrhea and ” keto breath ” are common keto diet side effects also. Related Story Keto Diarrhea Is A Real Problem While, yes, diarrhea can be another symptom of the keto flu, it may be linked to how your body processes fat also, and specifically, as you know, the keto diet is filled with fat. The reason: Some people simply don’t digest fat as well as they should, Barbie Boules, R.

Keto breath, on the other hand, is less of a side-effect and more of a harmless inconvenience your breath literally smells like nail polish remover. Basically, when your body breaks down all that extra fat on the keto diet, it produces ketones-one of which is the chemical acetone, Keatley told WH previously.

Yes, the same stuff that’s in nail polish remover. Your body gets rid of those chemicals through urination then, defecation, and, yes, breathing. Keto breath should go once your body acclimates to the diet-in the meantime away, pay special attention to your oral hygiene, said Keatley.

Okay, I’m dying to know: Will the keto diet actually help me lose weight? As mentioned, there are a few reasons why the keto diet equals weight-loss gold usually, says Keatley. For starters, people reduce their daily caloric intake to about 1 usually, calories a day because healthy fats and lean proteins make you feel fuller sooner-and for a longer period of time.

Over time, this can result in weight loss. Amazing keto transformations.

  1. Thanks for doing this experiment, I’ve never had Zipfizz, but this was interesting to see. Your stomach may have been upset since you had fasted for so long. I usually get diarrhea when I come off a fast if I don’t eat something really low carb. Also, if you workout right after having that drink, the exercise of helping to burn off that glucose so it might not be as high when you work out. Just some thoughts to ponder 🤔

  2. Funny, sometimes I catch your funny a few seconds later…lol, enjoy watching you. More extreme….we shall see…

  3. It goes to show that even our favorite products are not created equal and its important to read labels. Like, what if you had just trusted your past experience with all the other flavors? On the fasting I dont think itll make a difference.

    1. Yeah, honestly, I dont even know what made me read the peach mango label in the first place. But I was shocked to find maltodextrin.

  4. Morning, THAT JUMP WAS REAL NOT BECAUSE YOU WERE HIGHLY FASTED!!! I already did this test, JAKED me up too both fasted and not. So now I dont drink that one till I am ready to open my meal window cause eating moves the needle so at that point it dont matter!!!

  5. I think it would be better to see if if it would kick you out of ketosis. test you Ketones I would suggest. Great video!

  6. Im no expert here but I do think some of those results may be due to the fact that you are fasted and even the stomach issue. You may wanna to test again after youve eaten

    1. Id say the well-fasted results make it extremely accurate. Thats how they test A1C for diabetics, fasted to get a true result.

    2. But if she uses it fasted, then thats a big deal.

  7. Shame on Zipfizz for using that, especially since they have 2 other sweeteners in it already! I feel like shit after I drink it and the minimal electrolytes they sprinkle in at the end just aren’t with the dietary or financial cost.

  8. Here is another point to consider … while fasting (either IF or EF), we want insulin to remain as low as possible and not spike at all if possible. If you are seeing a 26 point increase in blood glucose, wonder what is happening with your insulin levels.

    1. It has to be spiking to get my blood sugar back down! Not a good thing at all..

  9. I’m diabetic definitely I should stay away from Zip fizz :((

  10. Would love to see an update on this flavor when you have been eating.

  11. Your ring light gives you a creepy, but seasonally-appropriate glow in your eyes. 🤣🤣🤣

This is very disappointing on the zip fizz front. I havent tried that one yet, so Ill just avoid it so I dont get attached. Lol

  12. That little fit you threw at the end said it all 😂 Sorry for your disappointment. I know you will find a way to make your beloved peach-mango work for you without it derailing all your efforts.

  13. I had to fire my favorite salt and vinegar pork rinds because of that junk jacking my blood sugar up and making me hangry when I hadn’t been hangry on Keto for three years.

  14. I have been wondering about these. I’m glad you did this video.

  15. Thanks for sharing. Easy up on the processed products and focus more on WFPB:) Cheers!

  16. Im so disappointed. I just tried zipfizz for the first time and the flavor was peach mango. Good thing I got the sample pack.

  17. Oh wow!!! That was a huge jump in each testing. I wonder what 2krazyketos opinion on the testing after a fast. I say them because I know Joe does this kind of testing alot. 🤔

  18. I had no clue theyd added that to the peach mango…. OMG! I am so glad you did this.

  19. Good video!! Keto Connect did a sweetener test video and xylitol also raised their blood sugar🙏

  20. Zipfizz made me feel like garbage so not using it is easy for me. The ingredients just dont work for my body. Im sorry about your experiment but Im glad you shared it so others can learn too. susie in the tundra.

    1. S Hughes same. I tried twice and both times got sick. Avoid several of these things for differing reasons

  21. Have it before you exercise. The workout will keep your blood sugar level.

  22. Ive always wanted to try that flavor. It stinks that it changed the glucose levels so much

  23. Maltodextrin is the reason I did not buy them. I had to stop crystal light for the same reason. I mean it’s better than a cookie, but it does spike sugar and stop ketosis. 😩

  24. Ohhh yeah! You did open a reality can of worms! I read at the ingredients on everything and when I see that Maltodextrin or Dextrose or Turbinado sugar which is a whole lot in bacon I get very discourage …. pretty much the 85% of things we buy contains sugar and hidden too….😞

  25. I have 2 boxes left. Think I’m going to take it back to Costco. They’ll take it back even though I bought it 4 months ago

  26. Thanks Autumn. I bought it when it was first released and I kept getting a headache after drinking it. That’s when I looked at the ingredients and saw MALTODEXTRIN was in it. I tested and It raised my blood sugar 37 points. I have a whole box of these I can’t drink 😢. Thank you for sharing your experience. Hopefully Zipfizz will change their formula for peach mango now🌹

  27. I would definitely retest on a eating day to see if it affects you differently. I would imagine it spiked like that due to fasting. I think it will still spike but maybe not as high. That way you would know you can reserve the peach mango for eating days not fasting days.

  28. Its the malto dextrin.that stuff needs to be taken off the market it gives you the same effect as eating sugar. Theres nothing good about it its not even a natural sweetener.I stick to erythritol and monk fruit and stevia all plant-based natural sweeteners. All the other fake sweeteners are just like eating fake oils. Cant be trusted!Im insulin resistant I was actually drinking a mango zipfizz the day I saw your video when you mentioned it had maltodextrin it. I thought I was going to get sick! like you it is also my favorite flavor. So I decided to test I had been fasting and that was the first thing I had so the timing was perfect. I went into the hundreds I was at 110. I was in the upper 80s before I drank it. Maltodextrin is not Keto. they are a perfect example of why you should always read the label.because you never know if a different flavor or when the packaging changes if theyve changed their formula. Because of this incident I started ordering k1000 electrolyte powder raspberry lemon flavor. You get 50 servings for about $32. It doesnt have the vitamin Bs but it has more potassium and magnesium etc it is the identical version of dr. Bergs electrolyte powder. Only this one is 15 to $20 cheaper. I will still drink zipfizz but this powder here will be my go-to because of the potassium and magnesium. If you compare the label on this product to dr. Bergs raspberrylemon, they are identical! Absolutely nothing different about the printing except for the company where it came from. To be honest I think he owns it LOL. I love dr. Berg he has saved my life I mean no disrespect towards him its just that why pay the extra when I can get the same exact product for cheaper. And it tastes good!
Also no matter who you are anything that is a trigger foodyour glucose should always start falling down after an hour and 1/2 by 2 hours it should be pretty close to where you started. Its that first half hour to hour when you know if it is a trigger food or not.
Thanks for posting your video! Thanks for bringing this to my attention earlier on!

  29. Im curious to see how your blood sugar would be effected if it was a regular day when you werent fasted. I wonder if any calories makes a sugar spike after a fast.

    1. @watchautumnketo because i feel like xylitol sometimes has that kind of effect too.

  30. Have you had any throat swelling from any of the zipfizz products?

  31. One concern I have is that while I don’t get a glucose response to zip fizz (I’ve never had the peach mango) That doesn’t mean there isn’t an insulin response. There isn’t an over the counter way to test that. I wish I knew that especially when I’m fasting.

    1. I have a glucose meter. Blood sugar and insulin spike are different things. I’ve listened to talks by dr. Fung. He talks about it.

    2. Yeah that shows blood sugar not the amount of insulin released.

    3. Briana Visone Briana you can get a glucose meter and test just like she did. They can be bought anywhere even Amazon.

  32. Wait, youve been promoting ZipFizz for over a year now in your videos, and only just now checked the ingredients?

    1. Peach Mango is their newest flavor, and the only one that has maltodextrin. Ive checked the other flavors, and even done a blood glucose test on those, and they dont affect my BG. I wanted to do this special test to determine if the maltodextrin made that huge of a difference. IT DID.

  33. Nooooooo!! 😭😭😭😭 Thats a blow to the gut! I love peach mango but I need to switch back to orange cream and límon. Funny I love all the flavors you dont LOL You should email them about that. Maybe they will change the recipe. Cause thats a damn bummer. Sorry Autumn 😥

  34. So here’s my personal experience with Crystal light and drinks that have maldextrin in it. The problem is people make the mistake of using crystal light to replace their entire water intake that’s too much maldextrin and that will cause a stall and it could possibly affect your blood sugar. Now what I do is I have a half a pack of Crystal light once a day in 24 oz of water and drink regular water with lemon or some other water enhancer that has monk fruit or Stevia for the rest of the day. I have not had any issues with weight stalls or blood sugar spikes.

  35. You are trynna rationalize🥴… lol You just cant have it during fasting or You will be kicked. Save it for Your eat deys. Thankhz so much for sharing. Wholeness n Essence of Love ((-;

  36. I don’t use zip fiz … so this helps me allot . Maybe you should try it again not fasting so long just to see …

  37. Being peach mango is their newest flavor I wonder if all of the flavors will contain the maltodextrin. Hmmm

  38. Oh that hurts me for you!! I have heard if you don’t allow the alcohol to dry enough it will be higher.

  39. Was going through vids to watch then saw the title of yours and thought NO WAY! Had no freaking idea it had maltodextrin in it. We buy these things by the bulk so this hurts, kinda saddening thinking the reason we buy these is to prevent spikes yet another company slides it in. Thanks a ton for your vids!

  40. The main reason my glucose spiked is because I got to see my keto krush in another video. Gimmie some sugar baby ! Good info.

  41. This is good to know. I have never had these but I know other people who also love them.

  42. This is a soul crushing experiment!!! I would be interested if you should test again not so long fasted

  43. I called the company and it was a mistake with the manufacturer and once it sells out the new batch will not have it in there.

  44. Wow! Love the glucose tests but sorry to see these results. What increase do you think is acceptable?

  45. Would be interested in your ketones as well. If you still have high ketones I don’t think your body will switch over for that small amount. I’ve been keto for over 5 years and still have dawn effect glucose levels every morning, 90-100, while still having high ketones, within a couple hours I’m down into the 70s and stay there. I wouldn’t be overly concerned unless I saw my ketones drop. That said, you had some tummy issues, that could have been from the fasting and this being the first thing you had, but I’d check another time after eating normally. You don’t want something that causes inflammation, especially given your digestive issues, right? If my joints started hurting after a zippy I’d have to stop, cold turkey. Just not worth it.

  46. Ok LOVE THE FLAVOR! I’m with you! But having said that, I’m a diabetic and talk about PAIN, blotting and nausea with peach mango. So disappointed! I worked so hard to get it and when I did it didn’t like me back! 🥴🥴🥴

  47. Peach Mango has maltodextrin????!!! What the WHAT?!!! UGH!!! Just whyyy????

  48. I commented on a ZipFizz IG post:

@zipfizz Is it possible for you to make the Peach Mango WITHOUT maltodextrin?

@thehungryheath yes, they will be moving forward. Email [email protected] for more info.

    1. carey gray It will not be in the new batch but they won’t get a new batch until they sell out of their supply

  49. Bottom, line it spiked your insulin 26 points, drop it. Lets see if it impact ur next weight in. Goodluck…

  50. I just saw at Costco a double pack of Peach Mango and Pink Grapefruit and the PM did not have maltodextrin in it. Maybe they listened? 🤷🏻‍♂️

    1. Yep! They admitted it was a manufacturing error and that the next batch wouldnt have it!!

  51. Dang – my heart hurts for you 😢. Props to you, though, for being able to read the ingredients without glasses, and thanks for the bottle opener tip! I had to take out my new favorite flavor, blueberry/raspberry, to check the ingredients…sucralose but no maltadextrin 😊

  52. It breaks my heart. I love Zipfizz and was really excited to try peach mango, but now Im glad I didnt! I wouldve loved it too much. When I first started keto two years ago, maltodextrin didnt bother me. Then this past summer, I noticed I felt like hot garbage eating my normal stuff. Pin pointed it to that nastiness. Instantly felt better when I stopped eating it. I did some research (see below) and discovered that it has a higher glycemic index than ACTUAL SUGAR. SAD! GET YO ACT TOGETHER, ZIPFIZZ.

  53. We all need to do a write in campaign to zipfizz… lol. Makes zero sense they have one flavor with MD. Im worried theyll add it to all the flavors. Its bad enough they have sucralose in them. 🙁

  54. Fasting probably gave the total real deal. Havent bought that flavor. Cant miss what youve never had. 😒 Thank you for the sacrifice, 😭😭😭 for the sake of ALL vigorously striving to be the healthiest version of self! 💜💜💜💜💜

  55. Autumn try again when your not fasting🤔🤷🏻‍♀️ or maybe ask the experts [in my option 😊] @ketoconnect – they are always doing test on something 😂

    1. @watchautumnketo I emailed and asked them to remove it 😀explained it affects blood fingers crossed enough people do this and maybe they will take it outta the peach mango even

  56. I would like to see on a non fasting day. What’s considered a bad jump in numbers?

    1. I dont like to see a jump any higher than 10. Im gonna do some other zipfizz testing, both fasted and non-fasted to get more data!!

  57. I dont think it makes a difference whether your fasted or not. I am going to test my blood sugar now to see how the peach mango flavor affects me. Thanks for doing this.

  58. Since I have been in a Weight Loss Challenge that just ended, I have been celebrating and just found some Peach Mango. Thank God only 10 tubes so I will finish these up, get back on the Keto track and leave that one alone. Here I come Orange Soda!

  59. Thanks for showing us this!  Why do they have to put Malto in so many things.  My hubs works in a food plant and they truck it in by the tanker fulls.  It has a hazmat sign on it!  I just found it in my supplements I was taking.   Why why why.

  60. I wonder if it would be worth complaining to the company? If enough people did maybe they would change it to remove that maltodextrin. Thank you for sharing the information. Hugs!

  61. 😭😭😭 I’ve been highly anticipating this video (ya know, for you to do all the work for me 🤣😂)
Aww man that freaking sucks, I had a feeling though… after you mentioned awhile back that you discovered it in the ingredients… my tummy had that feeling too. I guess I’m going to sporadically enjoy what I have left, mixed in with my pink lemonade and fruit punch. Dang it! I’m not sure I’m going to continue buying that flavor though, even though it’s my #1. There’s a tiny flicker of hope inside of me though, maybe that resulted from being fasted. Would you consider retesting another flavor after you’ve been fasted for that long?

Also, Autumn is absolutely correct. Zipfizz is to be shaken, not stirred, A-Aron

    1. Lol!! Thank you for the shake confirmation! Thats a good idea, Ill test Pink Lemonade!

  62. Thats the Best KK Ive ever seen. Sign me up for the meat sticks, too❤

  63. Thank you. I was planning on buying the Peach Mango, but I am sensitive to sweeteners, so that flavor is now off my list. 😐

  64. Welp being a diabetic, no more peach 🥭 mango for me nope! 👎 I’m so sad for you and me. I’m calling Zippfizz co!

  65. Hi Autumn! Dont hate me but I dont use Zipp Fizz. It affects my blood sugar too much. I use ultima to get my electrolytes in and no pre work out. I hydrate with water. Sorry about peach mango, I know you love it!

  66. Thank you so much for doing this video. I am visually impaired and probably would not have noticed the maltodextrin in the ingredient list. We always assume that when a product line is good it will stay good.
